Ina Garten is an American writer of cookery cookbooks as well as Emmy Award-winning host for the Food Network's most popular program, Barefoot Contessa which began broadcasting in 2002 has 27 seasons until 2020. Ina was employed for the White House as a writer of nuclear energy policy documents as well as the budget. While she initially found the work interesting, she soon lost interest. So she purchased the Barefoot Contessa a small speciality food store. It took her 18 years to make the shop extremely successful before she sold it. After that, she started writing her first cookbook. Numerous magazines and cookbooks came later. In the meantime, her Food Network show was also successful.
